This article was written by Thomas L. Friedman in the New York Times on January 21,2009. This article is directed to the American people. I believe it is also written towards the World and Obama's Presidency, telling everyone that we need a great amount of change in our government and bureaucracy. This new president that has been elected will be making differences in our lives today and making it better for our next generation. The author's argument is that there have been many mistakes in the past. Obama will be able to look back and try and not make the same mistakes as the other presidents did. he will also be about to look at the presidents and how they handled the The Great Depression and the Civil Rights Movement. Everyone is going to count on Obama to make changes in our country they won't want him to fail at anything. Everyone in the country needs to participate and help in making these changes one person cant not do it alone. He is simply the leader and we follow to help fix the problems that have been caused through out the years.
