Assignment #1 (S. Layman)

This article was written by Thomas L. Friedman, for the New York Times, Jan 21,2009. His article was written directed toward America and the World. For us to open our eyes to the great changes this country is going through and needs to go through. He argues that our country has finally made it to a point where an African American can become president. That change is happening (for the better). He hopes that Obama can fix all the problems that Bush made and left behind.
The one thing that I feel wasnt really touched by this article is the fact the the country itself needs to help in making the change. It is a proud day when we have an African American President in this country. Not to mention the fact that one of his running mates was a woman. The country is changing to one of better equality for everyone. While it will take time to fix all the problems that this country has faced, we the people of the United States need to help Obama fix the problems on the past. We alone cannot allow him to carry the burden of what has happened. We look to him to lead and to help but we must realize that we have to help him make these changes and fix this country.
