We have taken on a new chapter in life by electing an African American President. This is a stepping stone in history that we are all awaiting on the mission at hand.
The article was written to capture the attention of all American people. While telling us how different the new president is he is trying to show how much all this is going to effect our lives and the lives of our children. Voters wanted change and by electing Obama as President they want to see good change after all the bad decisions made in the past by former Presidents.
The argument made is that "Mission Accomplished" can not be determined because it has only just begun.

Assaignment #1 VMoore
This article, by Thomas L. Friendman appeared in The New York Times at the start of the year. In this article, Friedman speaks to the American people about the state of the country and how we can help it progress. He first points out that it is amazing that we have started to overcome boundaries that many thought we never would; electing a black president. This solely, shows that we are becoming more accepting of each other. Friedman believes that Obama can finally change America for the good.
Friedman backs his argument pointing out that in the 1930s Roosevelt was also put in front of a country that was falling apart from the Great Depression. But the changes Roosevelt made had a great impact on the country. Just like that, Obama could turn us around. Personally, I think Friedman is right. There have been a lot of problems that have been pushed aside for years that need to be dealt with. Obama needs to step up and take the problems head on.

This article was written by Thomas L. Friedman in the New York Times on Jaunary 21, 2009. I believe it was written and directed toward the people of the United States of America.
His argument is that we as a people have been through a struggling past and many tough times and we have come to where we are now. Mr.Friedman is basically saying that every president has done something different in playing a role of how things are now. We look at it as if President Bush put this nation in a deep hole, and we are now waiting for President Obama to finally make things better and dig us out of the burrow that we are in.
It is time for a change, we have come a long way and we are dependent upon Barack Obama to change that. President Obama now has a lot on his plate and everything he is planning on doing will change this great nation.

In the New York Times, an article written by Thomas L. Friedman makes it obvisous to the American people that he believes we are in need of many political reforms along with dramtic changes to the social order. He states that this is a radical movement for our nation and has hope for President Obama to be radical also.
I completely agree with Friedman on his basic argument of our new president having a radical stance throughout his time in office. There are many important issues that have been neglected in the past presidency which will hopefully be addressed this term. It cannot not all be done this presidency but a outstanding can be built. I feel our administrations now need to commicate better durring the transition from old to new because being radical for consecutive terms would never work. Commication will be the key to building America back to where it once was.

In his New York Times article "Radical in the White House", Thomas L Friedman is simply arguing that America needs to be ready for the radical changes that are coming. He speaks directly to America when he emphasizes that we should be proud as a country that we have evolved enough to elect a black man as President, but he also warns that we should not be content with only one victory. History has shown us that during times of crisis keeping the status quo and doing business as usual solves no problems; complex problems require complex solutions.
We, as a country, like to blame Bush for all of our current economic problems. While he didn't do much to help the situation, we must accept some of the responsibility for our current crisis just as we must accept that we the people must do our part in solving the problem. Mr Friedman is asking us to not only give Obama the freedom to enact policies and pass laws that he feels will help our country out of this hole, he is asking us to actively participate in the solution. These problems didn't appear overnight and they aren't going to disappear overnight. We need to be patient, put aside our need for instant gratification, and give Obama time to do some work.

The article could be read by American people and maybe people around the world who takes a interest in American politics. The writer is basically saying that changes need and hopefully will come since Barack Hussein Obama is the 44th president of the United States. He states that "We need to get back to work on our country and our planet in wholly new ways. The hour is late, the project couldn't be harder, the stakes couldn't be higher, the payoff couldn't be greater."
This statement is so true, it is time for a change in America it is time for us to stop being a divided nation and come together on one term. The arguement the author is making is that we need to support Obama and try to change this country. The writer talks about how George W. Bush put the economy is in trouble but he also state the Obama has to make some changes of his own and hopefully he doesn't fail like Bush. Putting the country back to the way it was will be a hard task for Obama and we as American should help.
